Damaged property, melted Meter rings, no hot water, rushed job, poor response

Overall poor install with mixed experience with PowerWall Installation / install issues and lack of transparency Update: Yesterday we failed the city inspection all dating back to the improper install mentioned below. It is no surprise really, but it is worth mentioning that not only did this require multiple repairs and revisits, the supervisor of the Orange County crew, Paul Bonnano, refused to reach out despite repeated promises by the Tesla team that he wanted to make things right and improve his crew on their training. Needless to say, all those promises were empty and the communication leaves a lot to be desired. Quite frankly, I’m not sure anyone really cares about a job well done when a job done is the priority, complete with multiple errors and revisions. Pros: Now that it’s finally installed correctly, the technology is good. Not worth the current costs, but it does what it is supposed to do so far. Cons: Just about everything else. The install team just did not show care or concern for our property, and had many errors that led to broken appliances, and melted the rings off our meter due to outright negligent/lazy practice of not securing it upon completion. This led to loss of power, smoking meter that you could smell, and a lot of headaches. Here’s the worst part as I’ll get into below. The supervisor, Paul Bonnano, never once contacted us to resolve or discuss this install despite repeated requests. It’s bad enough when jobs go south like this one. But we can judge mistakes by the response given by leadership and the absence of one speaks volumes to me and hopefully is a warning sign to you. I cannot recommend Tesla PowerWall install as a result of this negative experience and I am disappointed to say the least. Below you will find the details you may want, but if you just came for the summary, I would rate it a 1.5 stars at best. I must express my mixed sentiments regarding the recent Tesla PowerWall installation at my home. While one installer, Donny, demonstrated commendable care and professionalism during the install, the experience was marred by the conduct of his partner, Lien. We also had a virtually non existent product advisor in Terry Black and a supervisor Paul Bonnano who refused to take any of the feedback or follow up after the botched install. Update: Since then, Terry has been more present. Paul is still MIA. Some team members at corporate attempted to make things right and apologize, but it’s still very difficult to get a hold of anyone at this company and I fear for any of you should you need to get help with your project. Had I known it would be this difficult after the deal was signed, I would never have done business with them. I want to forgive, I want to understand, but Paul and his crew do not seem too concerned so why should I forgive when they don’t care. If they don’t care; why should I? Back to the install… Lien's unprofessional behavior on site, including loud cursing and complaints during the installation, was inappropriate for a customer-facing role. Such conduct, especially in the presence of my child, left a lasting impression. Regrettably, the installation itself had significant errors as well. The PowerWalls and panel wiring were incorrectly connected, rendering our hot water heater inoperable. Additionally, a power surge during installation caused substantial damage to our ovens, a fact that was inexplicably omitted by a follow up by Tesla's technician, Michael, in the paperwork submitted. He told me to my face that it was caused by this and would have Tesla take care of the cost of repair by the resolutions team, but then conveniently left it out. While I appreciate the swift response from Tesla's emergency team to rectify the installation issues and correct the shoddy work, the subsequent communication and resolution process have been less than satisfactory. Attempts to engage with non-customer facing positions have resulted in a frustrating runaround, hindering a timely resolution. Update: Donny did a great job responding to texts after 8pm trying to offer advice and getting in touch with his management, but failed to deliver on his promise to provide crucial contact info the next day. Worse, he stopped responding all together. He was possibly advised to cease helping, but he should at least tell us that and of course, nobody stepped up after that. Paul, where are you? As for our PA, Terry Black was as uninvolved as you can get before the project. Not a single phone call before, during, or immediately after even with all the difficulties documented and the emergency response team deployed. Felt very much “on our own”. All you get from Tesla are “no reply” emails and phone queues that are shut down to customers. Update: In the weeks after, Terry used the text system to provide updates and run point communication. Tesla asks you to “request” communication through the app and then basically ghost you. It’s hilariously a merry go round and probably their worst bug, but to them is a feature. What’s funny is what Elon says to Disney, the only Mickey Mouse operation is his and their motto should be his favorite 3 word phrase to Bob, because that’s exactly how they make you feel. Well, right back at ya! There’s more, but I’ll save that for another day. Despite the challenges, I believe in Tesla having some employees with a commitment to high standards and hope that this feedback prompts a review of procedures to ensure a smoother customer experience in the future. They appear to make good products and the few good apples are trying their best to keep that ethos of caring. Trouble is, you better hope it mostly goes to plan, because if it doesn’t, you’ll be hear writing the same experience.

Powerwall install

Lien and Cameron (Clint Eastwood) from Tesla were perfect installers. On time, communicative, and friendly. The install took about 6 hours with power off for about 5. The install is clean and they even painted the conduit. Highly recommend.

Power wall installation

Just had our powerwalls installed today, we had existing solar from sun power. Our technicians were Lien Nuygen and Jonathan Boltenhouse, they were awesome. They came at exactly the appointment time, they were professional, and the install was so clean and well done. Our system was harder to integrate given the existing sun power solar system, but they worked late into the early evening to get everything done in one day. Very happy with the overall experience and would definitely work with Tesla for home solar again.

Tesla Install Crew exceeded expectations!

It's tough to find a good contractor in any trade. And all of them can talk a good game on the phone, but the proof is in the execution. The Tesla crew that installed my solar was nothing short of amazing. They were professional, courteous, and did a fantastic job on the install. This is one of the reasons I went with Tesla as these are actual Tesla solar employees. Great job guys, thank you!

Green footprint

Tesla installers are polite, clean and efficient. They explained everything step by step. So far all is going as predicted and we will see what the future has installed for us. I chose Tesla because I used them for an earlier and will say that the process is better and more customer friendly. I recommend them for their willingness to give clients a great product and service.

Great product

3 month to install. Although it takes a day for customer service to respond, the process went well. 3 months from order to install and another 3 months until approved for export to the grid. Great install crew for the power walls and panels despite a tricky high pitch roof and I put the power walls in my garage on the complete opposite side of the house from my CB panel. Great energy production above projected mins. Highly recommend.
